Heather & Andy :: Love on St. Paddy's Day

It was an unlikely series of events that brought us together: a twice-delayed wedding date, a family tragedy, long distance, and a snowboarder with a broken leg.  The very fact that we found our ways to each other led me to think it was meant to be... but once I met Heather and Andy, I knew that was exactly the case.

Heather and Andy are my favorite kind of couple to work with: deeply in love, happy, sweet, kind, and up for an adventure.  Their hearts were so in the right place, and their bond was clear to see.  Their wedding was a full-day adventure on an unseasonably warm and gorgeous St. Patrick's Day; the holiday added a little extra pizzaz to an already happy day.  Their style was a blend of traditional, laid back, and super fun and the smiles were in effect from the start of the morning till the end of the night.  It was an honor to spend this beautiful day with such a lovely couple.  

Congratulations, Heather & Andy!  Hope your memories of Minneapolis are now all the sweeter.

Leavenworth, pt.1

Recently I was forutnate to travel to the Seattle area (my home away from home) to attend a photography intensive workshop in nearby Leavenworth, WA, which is small mountain town that looks like a Bavarian village.  I spent two full days with the fabulous Zach & Jody Gray, learning their wedding mojo magic. We talked gear, lighting, workflow, and how awesome (and sometimes challenging) it is to be a wedding photographer.  We laughed, puzzled, experimented, and traipsed through the mountain town taking some fun photos.  The other workshop attendees, mostly from the West Coast, were wonderful and the models were so much fun to work with.  I found the experience to be inspring, educational, and fulfilling.  I hope some of that enthusiasm is reflected in the photos I'm sharing here.  Enjoy!

Beautiful woman, adorable belly.

I had the pleasure of photographing a very special young woman this weekend, as she heads into the final weeks of her pregnancy.  It has been such a gift to work with her through her engagement, wedding, and now pregnancy phases of life.  She seems to grow lovelier through each era!  Our session served as another reminder about what a blessing it is to work with the wonderful people I photograph.
